Description
Before you is the second themed lesson dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the victory in The Great Patriotic War. With the help of these materials students will get to know the biography of Boris Vasilyev, writer and dramatist, familiarize with the grammatical topic “Ordinal numbers” as well as discuss the influence of the art during wartime. Exercises and rules, given in this lesson will help students give reasons for their point of view during discussions and express their personal opinion correctly. In the “keys” section you will find methodical recommendations for the teacher including distance work. This lesson can be combined with the previous one ““Doctor profession is an act of valor”. Lesson timed to the Victory Day”, level B1. Methodical recommendation on complex use of the materials: students can be divided according to their preference into “doctors” and “writers”. The first part works with the text about Fedor Uglov (“Doctor profession is an act of valor. Lesson timed to the Victory Day.”), the second one reads and translates the text about Boris Vasilyev at the same time. After that participants of one group read texts aloud in turns, participants of the other group listen to them, write down the information and answer the questions about the text. Questions are given in texts of the lessons. We also suggest performing a group discussion: what help people more during hard times – art of medicine? Finally, one can also suggest learning and declaiming a poem about war to both groups.
