Chess is one of the most popular games in Russia. What is the secret here? We will learn and discuss it during the lesson! With the help of the exercises students will learn to correctly use verbal prepositional-nominal constructions in their speech, for instance: “играть/сыграть + с кем? во что?:”, “выигрывать/проигрывать + в чём? у кого?”, “побеждать/победить + в чём? кого?” etc. Part of the lesson’s exercises is based on a plot of the popular TV series “Ход королевы” (The Queen's Gambit) – we will talk about its heroes’ fate as well as complete additional exercises. They will help students learn the terminology of chess.
