We are going on a journey into the underground culture of the 1980s! In this lesson, we will talk not only about rock music, but also about phenomena of that era such as samizdat and magnitizdat, censorship, approved texts (litovki), and cassette tape recordings. Do strict restrictions hinder the development of counterculture, or, on the contrary, do they lead to its flourishing? To explore this question, we will visit Yekaterinburg — one of the capitals of Russian rock, where hits by bands such as Nautilus Pompilius, Agatha Christie, and Chaif were first heard. It is also home to an underground rock passage, a museum of underground culture, and even a rock telephone booth! Fasten your seatbelt — the time machine is ready to depart :)
