This lesson will give you answers to the most common questions about life in the USSR! What are “cards” and why could one make purchases with them? Why did politicians use pseudonyms? Why did militsiya become politsiya and the union was called Soviet? Students will get to know linguo-country-specific information about different periods of the USSR development, complete comprehension exercises as well as analyze the text of the video. In the end of the lesson the group is encouraged to discuss the activity of underground movements in different countries and compose a report about one of the periods of the USSR history (War Communism, NEP, perestroika e.t.c.). This is a C1+ level lesson.
